Massage therapy does more than just relax the body and calm the mind. Regular treatments are an important part of a wellness plan. Massage addresses the wear and tear of daily life, providing much needed soft-tissue and muscular help. Regular massages help you do more of what you love. Whether you’re a weekend warrior, a stay-at-home mom, or a hard-working professional, your daily grind adds stress to your body.
It’s not about the number of clients we see, it’s about helping to restore quality of life and optimum performance, for your needs and lifestyle. We listen to your needs because we care, and work with you to develop the most appropriate treatment plan.
Our massage therapists can assess your needs so you get the perfect massage therapy you'll love. From body mapping trigger points and Myofascial Release, to deep tissue and relaxation massage, we have the expert knowledge for your needs.
Medical massage therapy is the application of a specific treatment targeted to the specific problem(s) that has been diagnosed and prescribed by a physician. Upon visiting a medical massage therapist a thorough evaluation will be determined and from there, a medical massage treatment plan is instilled. A medical massage is any massage treatment used to treat the medical conditions of the patient. There is no specific technique that is qualified as a medical massage.
Our ultimate goal at Optimum Performance Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork is to help your body heal and return you to a better quality of life. Depending on your specific condition, our massage therapist may use several different massage modalities to focus on your areas of discomfort. These modalities may include; Swedish techniques , deep tissue, myofascial release, joint manipulation, muscle energy techniques, trigger point therapy, assisted stretching, and kinesiology taping.
If you participate in sports as a professional, amateur, or weekend warrior, you are an athlete. If you workout at a gym, or exercise on your own, you are an athlete. Regular massage can help keep your muscles operating at optimum performance. Pre-event, post-event, and any time between, massage can benefit at any age or physical level.
Sports massage can be done before or after physical training. We focus on the belly of the muscles and the attachment sites to help increase range of motion and separate muscles fibers. Opening the muscle fibers helps to promote distribution of oxygen throughout the entire muscle, and flush waste products that interfere with muscle growth. The results are greater endurance, recovery, and the prevention of injury from warming up the muscle for repetitive use.
Massage therapy helps reduce stress and inflammation, while promoting relaxation. Our clients are able to physically and mentally relax, which improves their mental state and reduces depression and anxiety. Massage may also relieve high blood pressure often experienced during pregnancy, alleviating the musculoskeletal pain that the strain of pregnancy causes. This helps you prepare for birth by loosening your joints and muscles, leading to a shorter labor. Studies have shown that prenatal massage is helpful for both the mother and baby.
Created by a physician bioengineer (MD, PhD) to enhance blood flow and speed recovery, NormaTec Pulse Massage Pattern employs three key techniques to maximize your recovery:
PULSING: Instead of using static compression (squeezing) to transport fluid out of the limbs, Sequential Pulse Technology uses dynamic compression (pulsing). Our patented pulsing action more effectively mimics the muscle pump of the legs and arms, greatly enhancing the movement of fluid and metabolites out of the limbs after an intense workout.
GRADIENTS: Veins and lymphatic vessels have one-way valves that prevent fluid back flow. Similarly, NormaTec Pulse Technology uses hold pressures to keep fluids from being forced in the wrong direction. Because of this enhancement, instead of tapering pressure off, the PULSE and PULSE PRO can deliver maximum pressure in every zone.
DISTAL RELEASE: Because extended static pressure can be detrimental to the body’s normal circulatory flow, Sequential Pulse Technology releases the hold pressures once they are no longer needed to prevent back flow. By releasing the hold pressure in each zone as soon as possible, each portion of the limb gains maximal rest time without a significant pause between compression cycles.

Dave Gassner LMT, MMP, CLT, has experience not only as a Licensed Massage Therapist but also as a patient. His interest in massage therapy started as a teenager when he received massage while participating in sports. As an adult Dave sustained a low back and knee injury which crippled him for almost two years and required surgery. Even though he followed all the medical advice, Dave was not healing, and lacked the mobility and reduction in pain he was looking for.
Dave once again turned to massage therapy for help and became so involved in his treatment, he decided to attend massage therapy school and entered the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Newington, Connecticut. CCMT is considered one of the top accredited massage schools in the country.
After graduating from CCMT Dave immediately continued his education by earning his certification In Myofascial Release and is a Certified Medical Massage Practitioner and Certified Kinesiology Taping Practitioner. Dave has worked with professional sports teams from the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the National Lacrosse League (NLL) as well as high school and college athletes throughout Connecticut. Dave is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and the American Medical Massage Association (AMMA).
Dave‘s clinical approach and intuition has benefited many people. Clients come to him for sports maintenance, injury prevention, and injury recovery. Patients are referred to him for treatment of old injuries along with new ones. Dave believes many people just suffer through pain because their time is limited, or they are uncomfortable in a open setting with others watching their therapeutic recovery. Don’t suffer any longer. Allow us the privilege to assist you and get you back to optimum performance.
